Stop Blaming Ex-Wife, Pay Off Creditors
Q: I am recently divorced from my wife of 20 years. Everything we had was jointly held and because of some very bad decisions we made in the past, we had to declare bankruptcy four years ago. I also just finished my pharmacy schooling about 18 months ago and now have been employed for almost two years as a pharmacist making a really decent living. I'm really nervous about some of the bad financial mistakes my wife made in the last couple years of our marriage, and that they have probably affected my credit scores negatively. Do you think I would qualify for a home loan if these negative things were associated with my wife and not me?

Show Off Pool and Lure a Swimmer To Buy Your Home
Q: I am getting ready to list my house for sale. It's a very unique home with a pool, and some other features that aren't all seen as benefits in the area. Should I downplay these things just to try to get people in the door?

Wedding Cash Is Not OK for Down Payment
Q: My husband and I just received about $10,000 in cash from my extended family at our wedding last week. It is traditional in our culture for the bride and groom to receive large cash gifts at the wedding. We had been planning on using that money for the down payment on our new home that we were supposed to close on next week. The bank is now telling us that we can't use this money as our down payment and that our loan is being denied. This makes no sense to me. This is our money and we should be able to use it as we please. Is there anything we can do?
